I have a photography session this morning... I am super excited. Do you know how long I have been planning this session? Believe it or not... since before I received her deposit! When I started to advertise for this specific session type I already had started the planning process. I had thought about pose ideas, formulated some "extras" I could take along to enhance whatever props the client had already planned to use... I thought about lighting and if at the time of day I would have enough natural light or if my portable studio lights would be coming along... they are already packed in the trunk! Then when the client paid her deposit I went back and reviewed different pose ideas that would be flattering to her specifically! We created a Pinterest board to share ideas and I sent her a preparation sheet to help her feel the most confident the day of the session! Now the session is here... Contracts are printed our, Payment Agreement and Process information is printed out and package examples are included... Batteries are charged and Memory Cards are formatted! My gear bag is packed... Now, I have time to sit and make sure that I have everything and need and back ups just in case... I have thought of different scenarios and how I would work through them... you see, when you take your studio on the road conditions may not always be ideal... is there a window, is the space small? How do I work around this and still capture an amazing image that can be cherished for a lifetime? I plan, that's how... I look at what could go right and what could be a challenge and I work my way through each options so that I am prepared to provide outstanding service! A little prep goes a long way towards capturing special moments... this session is extra exciting since it is a Valentine's gift to her honey!
